The Bergamot station is the historical name for the site on which the gallery complex is located, going back to 1875 when it was a stop for the red line trolley running from Los Angeles to the Santa Monica pier. Bergamot is a flower of the mint family that once flourished in the area. The Bergamot station relates to the theme is deities and places of worship because the Bergamot station is a place where everyone can come and admire it's stuff that it has to offer. Just like temples have been built for people to come and gather around to worship for their religious beliefs, there is people that come and gather to spectate the many artworks that the Bergamot station has to offer. The building of the station is connected to temples and many places of worship's architectural structure. The building has that unique design to demonstrate that it is an art center and can also see the similarities that the building structure is to some other sacred temples. The station can also relate to the theme mortality and immortality because this whole station once was just a place filled with train tracks and basically it was just a really dead place in which nobody lived at until the city decided to construct an art center in which is known as the Bergamot station. The Bergamot station is connection to immortality because the station was built for everyone to come see and explore its artwork, so the cite can be kept alive and have many people explore the place. The place represents mortality because the place once was just a place for trains and was a place where it wasn't very populated, meaning it was a dead place. Another theme that can can be tied with the Bergamot station is race, gender, clan, and class. The Bergamot station has become a very popular destination for visitors of people around the world. The art station being popular is a representation of how Santa Monica as a city is one of the most popular cities for people of all places to come and visit and they both share that popularity for everyone to come and see. no matter the race, gender, clan or class anyone can come and admire the city of Santa Monica for all the things that it has to offer.
